Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What sort of documentation do I need to sign?

You should have an AFRA or industry approved contract and your insurance forms. If you are moving interstate, or placing goods into storage, you should also have an inventory that should be signed by both parties at uplift and at delivery. The inventory should clearly state the condition of the goods upon uplift. It is unwise to proceed with any removal if you do not have a contract.

What happens if I can't be at the property when the furniture arrives?

You should arrange to have a person who will act as your agent and who can take delivery of your goods at the time you have agreed with the removalist. You should inform your removalist that you have appointed an agent and give them contact information. If you can't do this, you may need to make arrangements with the removalist to store your goods until you can take delivery. This may result in a storage fee, extra handling charges and a redelivery fee.

When do I have to pay for the work that is done? Do I have to pay up front?

This needs to be agreed between you and the removalist in writing, before the job is commenced. In most instances you will be expected to pay upon uplift, except on local removals where payment may be agreed for when delivery is made. It should also be clearly stated on the contract at the time of signing whether you are paying by the hour or by cubic volume, as well as for time spent travelling to pick-up and from delivery.

Can I pack my own boxes or give instructions on packing?

You can pack your own boxes but if there are any breakages in those boxes, the removalist will take no responsibility nor will these items be covered by insurance. And unless you have training as a packer, we advise you refrain from instructing the removalist on how to pack. This may also affect your insurance and, again, if there are any breakages, the removalist cannot be held responsible.

If need be, can the removalist help me with storage?

Yes, they can. In most instances they have storage facilities that are specific for furniture storage and afford the best security available.

What is back loading?

This is the term used when you share the space on an interstate truck travelling to a major city, state or town. Sharing the load basically means you only pay a portion on what you would if you hired the complete truck space. We back load every week to Sydney, Melbourne then back to the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Our guys are professionals, vastly experienced and careful and safe operators with your furniture and the trucks they drive.

How big is the truck?

The truck has 50 cubic metres access.

How long do you think the job will take?

It depends on the travelling time and how well it is packed.

Are you a depot to depot or door to door?

We do local door to door, outside 15 km from the base (Corrimal) depot to depot.
